TS1.1 XMapTools 4 suddenly not opening on WINDOWS

Reported by Qian Zhang on 03.01.2022

This issue affects XMapTools 4 if the process is killed while saving the configuration file.

A crash of XMapTools 4 can cause serious problems with an internal configuration file. In this case, XMapTools would no longer open (while the process remains active in Task Manager). Deleting / reinstalling the program does not solve the problem.

  • Uninstall XMapTools
  • On WINDOWS, navigate to C:\UserName\AppData\Local\Temp\UserName\mcrCache9.9\ and eliminate manually the folder XMapTo1 and any other folder with similar name (e.g. 2, 3, etc.). If you cannot find AppData, select “hidden items” in the folder options.
  • Install XMapTools normally
